Meet Paula Barnes, Personal Stylist
How long have you been with Carriage House?
32 years
How do you help your clients build a wardrobe?
Personal relationships are at the center of wardrobing. By knowing both my clients personal style and lifestyle I am able to help them find pieces that will not only be attractive on, but useful too. An attorney’s wardrobe needs may be different from a mom-on-the-go or an artist, so really knowing your clients is essential.
What is your specialty?
I specialize in helping my clients find a look that is complementary to their body type. People come back to me again and again because I am honest, and have their best interest in mind.
What are a few style tips or rules you live by?
Invest wisely in a few key pieces, such as great fitting trousers, a classic white blouse, a perfectly tailored jacket, and a fabulous dress. Next, add fun pieces and colors seasonally, according to trends.
Advice to anyone starting to build a wardrobe?
Be yourself! Buy unique pieces that you love and are comfortable in. Don’t try to look like anyone else- what looks good on someone else may not necessarily work for you.
Any favorite trends for Fall ‘20?
Menswear - with a ladylike twist.
What do you consider the most important or essential piece to have in your wardrobe?
The one you feel like you rock!!! Besides that, the most important piece in your wardrobe is a great accessory that elevates your everyday style.
Any favorite style icons?
Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy. They inspired so many styles that are still relevant today.
